Maurice, manager of the Old English Gentleman Pub in 1998-1999, speaks about his innovations, including singers in drag and outside seating. In April 2009 the pub was bought (long leased) by a Lebanese gentleman, who is paying a premium to no longer serve alcohol at this venue.

The Arabic Centre, designed as a single-stop destination for Arab visitors and locals at 51-53 Edgware road, included a film club, video shop, travel agency, hairdressers, cafeteria, and later the Arrimal nightclub in the cinema space.
