ZOOM

A newly commissioned video performance in the "Grand Stair".
Reclaiming the strange spectatorship of viewers who entered the 19th-century Camera Obscura rooms to see live views of their surroundings in today's time of real-time hyper surveillance, CAMP invites us to experience a contemporary form of Live Cinema.

Live and archived streams from CCTV cameras mounted on rooftops in Mumbai and Hong Kong are accompanied with live narration. The zoom as an un-human, continuous movement of curiosity and exploration of relations: between individuals and society, stones and the city, pixels and messages, raindrops and the climate, is the subject of this evening. Beyond its strange physical phenomenon, the zoom is a tool of abstract continuity that bends spacetime, pulling us into obsessive black holes and throwing us out into vast horizons.
